Questions

How do small VTubers make money?+

Most start with direct fan support (Ko-fi tips, Throne wishlists, Streamloots), because none of those need a follower minimum. Platform pay follows at Twitch Affiliate (25 followers and 3 average viewers) or the YouTube Partner Program (1,000 subscribers plus watch hours or Shorts views).

Do VTubers get paid by YouTube or Twitch?+

Yes, once they qualify. YouTube shares 55% of watch-page ads and 70% of Super Chat and memberships with Partner Program members. Twitch Affiliates get 50% of subscriptions, rising to 60% or 70% through the Plus Program.

What is the best way for a VTuber to earn without streaming more?+

Income that does not depend on you being live: memberships, merch, affiliate links and character licensing. Licensing is the newest of these: a company uses your character and pays you for what it earns while you're offline.

Can 18+ VTubers monetize adult content?+

On platforms built for it, such as Fansly, and through adult-only programs such as Calla Partners. Mainstream shops like Fourthwall ban explicit content, and Twitch and YouTube have their own rules, so keep adult income on adult platforms.

Where do these numbers come from?+

Each was read on the platform's own pricing, help or terms page on 2026-11-04 and is linked next to it. Where a platform does not publish a figure, we say so.
