Talkie is not an adult product. Its Terms of Service, updated 23 April 2025, say “You must be at least 14 years old to use our Services, except where a higher minimum age is required by local law,” and its FAQ answers the NSFW question with “Pornographic and violent content are prohibited as per our terms of service.” That is the right rule for an app that admits 14-year-olds, and it means adult roleplay is against the rules for everyone.

Mozilla's Privacy Not Included team gave Talkie Soulful AI their warning label on 7 February 2024. They noted it says it can “sell and share your personal information for targeted advertising purposes,” that not all users get the same right to have data deleted, that they could not confirm it meets Mozilla's Minimum Security Standards, and that the terms grant Talkie a “perpetual, irrevocable license” to user content. Talkie does say message contents are not used for targeted ads.

On 20 December 2024 the South China Morning Post reported that Talkie had been missing from Apple's US App Store for about six days, with the app citing “technical reasons.” The same report put Talkie at 11 million monthly active users in July 2024, more than half of them in the US, and 17 million downloads in the first eight months of the year per Sensor Tower.
